We welcome members from all over the United States but our primary membership comes from western South Dakota, northwestern Nebraska and eastern Wyoming. Our meetings are usually every second Tuesday of the month at our clubhouse in the General Aviation area of Rapid City Regional Airport. Meetings start at 7:30 p.m. unless we get the urge to have a cookout before the meeting. Then we gather starting at 6 p.m.
We occasionally move the meeting to a non-Tuesday time for the annual holiday party or picnic.Check the calendar of events to see what is current for the month.
Members have constructed and flown a variety of aircraft since our chapter organized in 1963, and are continuing to do so today. We also have people who are very interested in restoring and flying aging aircraft.
We coordinate several fly-outs every year to surrounding airports. They often show up on the calendar between newsletters.
Members also actively attend national EAA events such as Sun N Fun and AirVenture at Oshkosh, WI. The group sponsors group camping at Oshkosh, and often people share rides and rental homes at Sun N Fun.
We want to encourage people to enjoy all aspects of aviation. We try to reach out to the community by sponsoring Young Eagles orientation flights for children between the ages of 8 and 17, as well as sponsoring Golden Eagles orientation flights to encourage adults with the means to pursue a pilots license. Public events will be posted on our calendar.
Check back often to see what we are up to!
